Angry Pakistani fans protested outside the Birmingham stadium and demanded the removal of Waqar Younis and Misbah-ul-Haq after the Greens suffered a drubbing at the hands of a second-choice England squad at the capacity filled Edgbaston stadium.
Skipper Babar Azam played a heroic knock and that took Pakistan to a total of 331 runs but that didn’t stop England from taking home the series 3-0.
Slogans of “Go Misbah Go”, “Go Waqar Go”, “Go PCB GO” reverberated outside the stadium as angry, dejected fans left for their homes in total disgust at the behavior of Pakistani players and rued the loss of the whole series.
“Misbah and Waqar, please leave us alone. You have caused enough damage to us already. Please stop humiliating us,” said one Pakistani fan who was shouting slogans.
“Misbah, I beg of you to go and coach a county team or a domestic Pakistani team. You are not made for the national team. Please stop playing with our emotions. Just leave the national team alone,” he added.
Another agitator called on Waqar Younis to resign and do something else. “You have failed badly with the bowlers. You cannot help Pakistani team. Please do something else with your time,” said the protestor.
Fans appreciated Babar Azam for making pakistan proud but said that most of the team players let him down because they didn’t have a planning.
“Babar Azam is such a fine player who have made Pakistan proud. However, the players are on their own. They receive no instruction and they have no planning,” he said. “This is England C. They aren’t good enough for us. It’s a shame they lost like this,” he added. One fan said he bought 7 tickets and wasted his time.
Despite a total of 331-9, Pakistan still suffered a three-wicket defeat after England´s James Vince posted his maiden international hundred.
